I moved him, damn was that a fight. He makes this thing look tiny, ive moved up my pond order:

removed filtration for pic splashing was in the way.
 
Throw a sponge filter in there if you can, it should be okay, make sure you cover it with something that lets the light through, Eggcrate would be good.
