Cali Ray with weird swimming behavior

I don't know about the mating behavior other than the female puts off a electrical signal for the male to know she's ready but I would think he would be chasing her around. I would take the skin off personally as I take the shell off the raw shrimp. Do you feed them scallops, squid , octopus ?
 
I haven't feed them anything other than fish and squid, mostly squid. I don't even know where to get octopus.
