Cali Stringray help!!

The huge issue is that stingrays pose a threat to the swimmers if they were released in the waters and they can survive in California during summer with no problems...tho if the tilapia and other tropicals are capable to surviving in California then the stingrays can. California is worst state that have strict laws for fishkeeping around in United States so I doubt they will change the laws.

Ya worst thing that can happen is it turns into florida which is probably what they are trying to avoid with such strict laws

I could never understand why they banned glofish in California.

They have a ban iir on anything genetically engineered.

And they probably do want to avoid what happened to Florida... wouldn't you?

I don't agree w/ a lot of the laws made.. but at least some of them make sense.

Cali is not worth the hassle. I agree with tool. When it happens I may visit Arizona bay.

well, Thanks guys, when I talked to my Dad about it he said its going to be really hard unless we are billionaires and have money to spare. which we aren't but like aw3s0m3 said do you think I and try and do a permit for educational purposes? I actually want to learn about them? is there anything people want to know about them??

If you do a business with the public and educate them, you may able to get a permit for educational purposes. But if its for your private collection, they may not give you a permit.

released individuals wasn't the problem or why florida ended up with all the exotic fish and reptiles( even though they want to blame it on that) Florida leads the country in aquaculture and the invasive fish species came through that channel(hurricanes and flooding of breeding ponds).. Funny thing about Florida is they always make things illegal after it's too late like making most large constrictors illegal.. BTW. stingrays are restricted but, Florida already has stingrays in our rivers.

Well to be fair, the stingrays in Florida are brackish water while we are talking about the family Potamotrygonidae- the true freshwater stingrays which is illegal in California and Florida I believe.

But there are other families of freshwater stingrays you can obtain legally....such as Atlantic Stingray and the Asian stingray...bad thing about these stingrays are that they're too large and difficult.
