Is it safe to feed Cali. Blackworms to SA cichlids? I was getting worried after I noticed thier stomachs are getting pretty plump. I mean nobody has shown signs of sickness or mopyness on the bottom, all super happy and love eating them. I started feeding them once in the morning and once at night with the worms for about a week now.. Sometimes mix in some omega flakes as well. Idk if they're healthy for them or not!

:ROFL::confused::ROFL::confused:Black worms are great to get fish to start eating but can have parasites. And for a long time I would loose one fish here and there and think it may have been the worms I only feed frozen now.

There's always the possibility that they would carry parasites, although I haven't had any problem with them. Fish really love them and they are great for conditioning (e.g., to get fish into breeding mood).

I have recently switched to freeze dried black worms for my discus. The freeze fry process is suppose to kill all parasites. Fish still love them.

Alright I may just try the freeze dried ones.. Idk I heard on a site that it normally kills cichlids when they start bloating so I was paranoid!.. I mean they're happy with black worms so I'll try frozen

It depends on what kind of fish you keep, but I wouldn't recommend using them as staples. They probably taste good, but may not be better than pellets in terms of nutrients.
