Found this on another board I frequent... is this true? I knew about Pirhana's and stingrays but cichlids?

SEC. 2. Section 2118 is added to the Fish and Game Code, to read:
2118. It is unlawful to import, transport, possess, or release
alive into this state, except under a revocable, nontransferable
permit as provided in this chapter and the regulations pertaining
thereto, any wild animal of the following species:

Morone americana (white perch)
Morone chrysops (white bass)
Family Clupeidae (herrings)

how can you take something like that seriously? if this was actually enforced it would kill the hobby in ca. from what i've noticed the only fish they are really anal about are the pirahna, snakeheads and the rays. i see no regulation on the rest.

If you read closely, it's only the species listed under each family, NOT the entire family. It will be okay, don't freak out...

I'm not freaking, it's just that cali is the edge of lunacy when it comes to politics..Then once legislation is passed their slanted "big brother" ideas worm there way eastward like an invading cancer. This post was more for exchanging information as I wanted to hear opinions from our cali forum members .

It sucks but it doesn't seem to stop anybody here.Out of MFK members in cali I know so far there is at least two asian arowana,a plethora of rays and pirhanas and a handful of common wolf and true gars.Thats just the ones I know of....

this is a list of the fish to be banned right? im not sure but i think that most of these fish are already illegal to have in california
