CALL FOR ADVICE, Need by tonight

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have housed a 12" male jag, with 2 oscars a gt and 2 pbass, the jag was dominant but never so much as left a mark on any other fish,i agree with the divider, keep a piece of plexi in case you need it.jags are awsome
And depending on the particular personality, you may have no issues, keep them well fed and run a lower temp and youll be ok for a while, but eventually need a larger tank.good luck!!

Yes, but problem is... its a 60 gallon sir.. I do not want to push the temper of a jag... so was wondering, if a GT is more quiter with oscars, I would like to make this trade...to reduce chances of aggression against my oscars :/

I keep jags with my oscars and have no issues, the alpha oscar bashs the jag up but not all the time, I know this sounds crazy but add a few more fish if u can an upgrade asap, I find overstocking to a reasonable amount helps u have to play around a bit but it works out best, I say overstock as u have a 60G so theres no way to use this method without overstocking it but I am talking a total of 4-5 fish juvies if u upgrade within 6-12 months ur fine.

Well my gt is a big baby, but honestly i have 5 2" jags in a 15gal with 2 1" texas and have no issues, this wont last obviously, but i do raise jags as my pair produces constantly, and i dont see them as all that nasty,i dont think jags are as bad as everyone sais, however i would say yes the gt will be fine, but then id also say the jag will be fine,so you should pick the one you prefer

Awesome help both squirtle and mega.... however... if it comes down to it...should I stick with the 6cm jag..or the 8-10 cm GT.... with the oscars... ? Thats the question..i want the least aggro.

Oh man... dont ask me that... im over stocked like a crazy person.... well I like both GTs and Jags...since this guys one is a high quality GT...its pretty amazing..ill show pics of it if i get it.

But Mega... question is... is it smart to keep the larger GT with the oscars now, or to put the GT in the 25 gallon, and wait for the oscars to grow to his size? And then add him to the 60 gallon?

Someone advised, if i use divider in the 60 gallon now, oscars will claim that side of the tank completely or something..?

I went to his place. The GT was at the top of the tank....following my finger and all, he later moved it to the other side of the tank..which had (1 inch small electric yellows)... the GT was trying to go through the divider to go back to his side of the tank really hard... but ignoring the baby electric yellows...he kept tryna push his way back to the tank...

Actually, he showed me a video a week old... his friend bred this GT... and his friend had 20 GT juveniles, in a 30 gallon breeder, and they all stayed together, and this one was always near the top of the tank... (but not like, pushing others outta the way, it came up..went down..went back..and the color was strong on him)....

So i did see the GT... was very active...he put it on the other side of the divider with small electric yellows and blues...it did nothing, besides push the divider... (i figured, even if its stressed from that QUICK instant move to the other side...he woulda at least went for ONE electric yellow lol)...

And yes... the maximum time I will upgrade within is 1 year....thats the MAX... original plan is in 5-6 months.

?

Well amigo,i would do whatever you want, take both, and if you have to either divide your tank or use a small tank for a grow out, from my experience once pecking order is established the tank is normally calm,if you have 1 jerk fish then you pull him out,you can allways take the overstock advise and add some dither
to spread the aggresion, and in the long run it could be an oscar thats the biggest dink in your tank, dont overthink it bro;)
