I have seen him try . maybe twice if he put effort he can get a few inches deep but only with foward motion not sure maybe he got micro bubbles inside or may he is too cramped up in the 3.5ft section of the hospital. Or maybe 2% salt is not good it makes him float .

I would do a water change at this point to bring salt % to 1 %i but i just want to keep everything stable
Water parameter are Amm 0 Nitrite 0 nitrate under 10

check the arowana info merged sticky good info about gill curl in there hope everything works out! this fish has potential to be very beautiful just keep at it good luck! make sure to keep us all posted with pictures i would love to see this guy all fixed up!

I'm not too sure about salt but do 30~50% water change daily.. & keep its back wet if it stays floating for too long without submerging to avoid fungus..

OMG so last night i was freaking out a bit so i added a powerhead and resisted the temtation to do a WC i figured stability first would be best .

This morning i woke up to ............a fish that is swimming normaly but even better ..... the gill curl 95% cured a 3 day recovery

Now i will take the time to show you the other 4 fixer upper i picked up. Thats right i ended up getting 5 fixer upper arowana instead of 3 but i can only do that after work so see you later

Next in the ER the rosegold XB

That fish is the most beat-up. As you can see the tail is split up badly. The scales have corroded from bad ph.
Most of the soft tissue around the gill is melted. To top that there is a giant wartz type thing on its tail.

As soon has the Sr in the hospital has recovered enough i will put him in the general population. and move the rosegold in hospital .

Then there is the elusive Sapphir XB it is very hard to take good pictures of him. He has a weird body shape , melted barbell and also corroded scales oudini.JPGoudini2.JPG
I am not sure the barbell will grow back but i am confident the scales will grow back

Ok then there is Malaysian Gold he is in pretty good shapemg.JPGmg1.JPG

Finally the chilly also in pretty good shape apart from the gill curl an a few missing scaleschilly.JPGruby.JPGruby2.JPG

Thats it that is my Fixer-upper project for 2012 i will post again in 6 months hopefully there will be lots of progress

Congrats on the SR's recovery.. Yeah, the powerhead does help in this situation..
The one thing that surprised me is the gill curl.. I never thought it would heal on its own..
The ones I usually see are birth defects which usually requires the curled part to be cut off & regrow.. Yours is probably due to bad water quality from the previous owner..
