Since I work in a petstore, I can pretty much pick the best fishes out before anyone else/customers.

The store gets loads of goldfish every week and once in a while I find some cool stuff (or goodies) among them.

I'm getting ready to pick up some more goldfish this coming week when the shipments get in again.

I like to use neon tetras as feeders because they're usually disease/parasite free compared to the "feeder fishes".

i sometimes find koi in the feeder section... which is pretty cool...

Koi are cheap though, I was told most koi in the US are imported from Thailand, not Japan/China (which I suppose are where the expensive ones are from).

Not that crazy to use neons for fish food or keeping feeder gold fish as pets. You can pretty much keep anything you want as long as you have the means to do it and do it properly.

I kept a huge feeder goldfish becuase the turtles never ate him, or he just hid very very well untill he grew a little to big for them, so now he swims freely in the 125 =) He's pretty neat!
