why not just silicone the crack and put mighty putty to make sure and then put a nice backround and some live plants to hide the might putty to distract you away from the might putty AND THEN YOU HAVE A FREEKING 300GALLON!

The crack is on the bottom straight across almost right in the middle. I am totally sure that if not fixed properly I would have a front or rear pane blow out and have a nice 300g puddle, besides I have a 8ft 300g here as well :headbang2

speed it makes the world turn

Just joshing ya, now to get to the good the bad and the ugly .

Ok the real ugly thing about this fish rescue tonight is that it would seem my friend hit hard times and let the tank go to pot. Here is a picture of the tank.

It was a really nice tank in its day. The real poopy part of this is that there are 2 types of fish in that tank, both with the initials RBP. Yep you guessed it pacu mixed with piranha. Which probably would work, if the tank had not been left to its own devices for a 2 week stretch prior to tonight. When I went to the top to move the glass so as to be able to net them, there was bread crusts all over the top. So it seems like someone was throwing bread in for the fish to eat. Anyone heard of that before?

Here are the pics of the fish that came home with me. I need you guys to tell me what they are.

I full well expect that my crayfish will go bye bye

don't need a bunch of pics of these guys, suffice it to say that I had 6 unwanted fish that I took home tonight as I could not simply take the piranha and leave the pacu. So my job over the next week or so is to rehome the pacu :naughty:.

this one now looks like this

The other 5 have gone into my 300 g and I am going to be the waterchange king over the next few weeks.

I decided to dispense with any of the tank shots and show these fish and not go into any details other than them.

I figure the one will not make it. All the others except 2 are up and swimming and the 2 that are not are definitely breathing and moving just not swimming yet.

I will take a few tank shots tomorrow. Been a long day of work ending with this fish rescue.

I will say that I do not think I will let them go 2 weeks without waterchange or feeding .

At any rate, I got them all for free so not a bad trade for a couple hours work.

the piranhas are pygocentrus nattereri aka red belly piranha, they look like they are in nice sizes and have nice shapes. way way way better then those pacus.
what happened to the one in the picture with that crayfish? was it dead?? or just in serious shock from being transported into a new tank?

Wow, i wasn't expecting there to be full size adults in there. That's some expensive stock of piranhas and pacus in there. must've been a nice restaurant

Hey thanks for the id.

I took the pic with the cray about 30 seconds after I had put them in the tank, so they were just chilling. I thought it was a funny pic because from what I have read the fish will def eat the cray's.

The one fish that I thought would not make it most definitely did not make it. All the others seem to be doing ok.

I powered up another filter on the tank, so there is a fluval 404 and 304 on the tank, I have it heated to about 78-79 and got one of my saltwater power heads for water movement and rigged up an airline to the powerhead so that it is blowing a good stream of air in the tank.

I also pulled out the larger rock so that it is basically a bare bottom tank. I will do a few water changes this week so as to make sure they have pristine water.

My camera is at home so I can not take a tank shot. I will do that probably tonight as I know I am gonna have to show pics.

Now to study up on these fish to see what I have gotten myself into.

should have all the information you need here in the stickys, if you can't find anything just feel free to ask.
www.opefe.com is also a great place for piranha information
