The cheaper p350 has really soft plastic and nothing on the corners so you can just cut them off FYI...

You could get about a half inch on the intake side.

You could possibly get a little bit off on the intake side, but if the media gets clogged at all and it backflows at all, it will leak. If you do anything to the other side, you'd have to add some kind of lip back on to the cut edge to direct the flow, or it will put water everywhere.

Ya I've got a canopy sittin in the garage for the same reason

the size hole you have really limits, I'd have to agree that a canister would be best or simply resize the hole if possible
