To those of you who have kept this species;

Aside from clean, warm water with a decent amount of current, what else should be kept in mind with these fish? Are they ok if kept as a pair, or is a group of three or more better? Anything else I might not have picked up on while reading about these guys?

They seem like an ideal addition to my ATF tank, and I'd like to grow one or two out.

Thanks for any input!
- John

Cool fish but they are not characins.They will probably be killed and eaten by ATF and they would eat smaller,guppy type fish....a group of them would make for a nice display.

Damn! Thanks Krich. Any idea on the growth rate on these guys?

I think they could reach close to six inches.My last one was taken out by a red tail tat that I had just gotten and released into the tank....They remind me of little Arowanas with their mouth shape and their barbels.

Someone on here was using one as a dither for a like-sized ATF with good results. If you can find one that will match the ATF it's going with (Baki?), it should be a good match.

Moved to Other Monster Fish.

Until the ATF gets big enough to view it as a feeder.

There is that. Both fish are slow growing however and I imagine that it'll be a long time before the ATF would be big enough to eat a 9-10" fish, especially a fat, lazy, well fed ATF.

Okaaay,borrowed time then....I wasn't aware Apollos grew quite that big,that's impressive.

Thanks for the input guys. I missed my chance to grab the red cudas, so I've been exploring other options. I've never come across and Apollo shark before, so I was curious.
