Calling all eheim users!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I haven't had either, so I can't say which is better, but just a head's up: these filters are huge. I've seen a few people on here saying that they didn't take measurements before buying and were pretty shocked at how huge they were; they won't fit through the cabinet doors on most standard stands. Be sure to measure your cabinet doors, otherwise you might end up with a green 5 gallon bucket (eyesore) sitting next to your tank.

Thanks for all the comments everyone!! Overwhelming to the 2262! I am not surprised though. I did measure...but will again before actually purchasing it. If I am righ it will just barely fit width wise. Height is not a problem.

your 125 stand should be widers than 18" the filter of 2262 is only 16.5" handle to handle.. if you place the handle left and right you have the filter at 13.5" in diameter.. so i know your 125's 18" width will have sufficent room for 2262 but 2180 i'm not sure since never own either that or the 2080.. but i have seen 2180's heating coil burn on users on imporper use.. i would recommand 2262 since eheim just started to offer this filter with 900GPH pump that comes with... i use 2 of these filter for my heavily stocked 180.. always over filter than under filter if you have the $$$.. just my 2 cent advise..

dont you have to have little more current so gets all the debris out and cleaner tank? i keep my spray bar top right just below the water line so i create air bubble with current and the other spray bar right underneath it so all the debris are shifted to the bottom right of the tank.. if poop are their i just syphon it with a small hose.. less than half of a 5 gal bucket..

I have a 2075 Pro 3 and like it a lot for a canister filter.

When I switched to a sump I immediately noticed my fish were a lot more active. I attribute this to higher oxygen levels in the water. The more I get into this hobby the less I like canister filters. Some canisters are easier to maintain than others but maintaining/cleaning any of them is a chore... which for me leads to procrastinating on their maintenance. Canisters are good for biological filtration but so is a sponge on a power head. None of my canister filters have been great mechanical filters. Even the Magnum 350 never did a great job keeping crystal clear water and it was the best of the bunch of all the canister filters I have used.

My Eheim 2075 is the only canister filter I still use and I use it as a backup for my sump. I didn't find the Eheim 2075 to be any better of a filter than my Rena XP3. They are both good filters but there was nothing in the 2075 that justified the extra expense over the XP3.

The only reason I still use the Eheim 2075 is that I paid way to much for it to let it sit idle.

Thanks again everyone!! I am gonna be buying a 2262!! I'm sure I will have more questions! I have read HarleyK s thread on how he loaded his media....anyone else have suggestions for media?
