Thanks again everyone!! I am gonna be buying a 2262!! I'm sure I will have more questions! I have read HarleyK s thread on how he loaded his media....anyone else have suggestions for media?

I have a 2180 on my 100g right now. I love this thing. Has a built in heater., wave maker, does a diff cycle at night to increase oxygen in the tank and a flow meter right up front. Those are all awesome but not really needed. The good is the dual intake which the 2262 does not have. You can adjust the out put gph to your liking. Slower output is better Bio filtration. It holds a ton of media too.. this thing is huge!!!! I love the filter its easily my favorite of all time. I run FX5's an so on. This filter out does those. I have never ran a 2262 but didn't like the bucket with a pump on top of it set up. Just my personal experience

Sorry just seen you decided to go with 2262, should have read post before I made mine lol. My FX5 is on my 125 an the 925gph its rated for is to much for smaller fish. Also leaves no dead zones in the water for rest. So I have to keep the spray bar on that filter. Also the suction from only having one intake sucked one of my littler fish to it. I seen it soon enough he didn't die but wasn't cool. To strong of suction. Something to watch with the 2262 since its rated around the same. Also high gph is good for mech filtration but not as good for Bio. The slower the water can run over your BB the better it can do cleaning your water out. Which is why I keep my 2180 flow turned lower for one cycle then high for the other. The extra oxygen after I put this filter on gave more life to my fish for sure. I love this filter for sure man

I would stand by my filter 100% man. I have never ran the 2262 though. Like I said, not a fan of the simple style.. but could be a blessing.. less to go wrong. The high gph is great for mech filtration. But with bio you want a slower gph so more time in with the BB.. the 2262 pushes it right out right away. It's right along the lines with the FX5 just holds more media. I have an FX5 also like I mentioned.. this filter is twice the filter for sure.

I have never own the model the OP listed but I do owned several eheim pro II 2026 and 2028. They are better bio filters than mechanical filter. I have two eheim 2028 canister with prefilter sponge for bio. I clean the canister twice a year but prefilter sponge weekly. I have my emp400 n power head for mech filtration and aeration. This is for my 150g setup.

i added an inline heater to my 2260.. so you said you like the 2180 because of the heating elements design, while ordering the 2262 filter i would also add the hydro inline 5/8 heater.. you wouldnt need a heater in tank and it would look really nice.
