Calling all Geo and Severum fans

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah i know the arg's potential but so far mine is very mild and he is over 6in, he holds his own and isnt bossed by anyone but as long as other fish leave him alone then he minds his own business, i have had angels in with him since august and he never bothered them at all, and i have looked into parrots, i always research fish before i buy them and from what i read parrots by themselves hold their own but aren't really bullies and just kind of mind their own business, i thought this was the case but i guess i will go and read some more, most of the issues i saw people had with them with aggression was when they were paired, and the tank would them just be the parrot the arg and the geos with the bottom dwellers i already have, i do 50-70% water changes a week so i doubt water quality will be the issue i was just concerned about aggression towards the geos, i know my arg wont mess with them he has been housed with all size juvies of cichlids and he hasnt bothered any of them

Parrots are extremely fast growers. What size tank do you have? Mine dominates my 210g. Mine went from 1" to about 7 or 8" in six months.

Wow that's really fast! Mine grow a lot slower and they are spoiled. lol My green male has gone from 2in to 4-4.5in in almost a year. >.>

Beautiful baby in your profile pic by the way!!! Stunning!

And I am a lover of eartheaters with the Severum as my favorite fish. I have kept a regular parrot in a freshwater tank with red jewels and severums and they do great. I know you're not supposed to keep africans in freshwater but he does better. >.> go figure.

-.- wow I thought you said Severum. You said parrot. Sorry my bad. Don't have my glasses on. lol

I keep both red dot seberums and geo surinamensis, both are in a separate tank with a different set up but I love both tanks.severums have a ton af personallity and the geos are so pretty with the clown loaches.

I thought severum were supposed to be peaceful fish. I have a Gold Severum killing my Blue Texas Cichlid and my Green Terror. it doesn;t seem to bother to convicts, clown loach, paradise fish, gouramis and the goldfish but is certainly handing out shells to those above. i also have two jewel who seemed to be always hiding.

yeah sometimes you can get that random psycho killer severum that has to be kept on their own but usually they are pretty mild,

ok guys so i put in my order! i have a nice little group of surinamensis and a large hoplarchus coming in on friday :) the hoplarchus is a little bigger than i was wanting to get (6in+) so i asked him if he could pick out a nice mild acting one and the geos are only 2-2.5in so im probably going to have to grow them out a bit before putting them in the big tank but hopefully everything will work out (fingers crossed)

I have 1 green severum in a tank with 6 tetras, 3 cory cats, and a chinese algae eater. The severum (CB) don't bother none of the other fishes. Cb is a really cool fish, he likes to be talked to. He shows off his color to get me to give him frozen bloodworms. He loves those. :goldfish: Very clam, and peaceful fish with a huge personality! I would recommend a severum to anybody!

Not sure that mix will work. Though I have no personal experience with any of the three.

We know the Argentea gets big and aggreasive. He may not be now, but he is not mature and no real threats.

The Parrot gets big too. From all I have read they get pretty aggresive and bossy.

The Geos are pretty mellow but get to a decent size too (10"+).

Just not sure a 5 foot tank can handle that.

GL....Bill
