Calling All Sting Ray Moderators

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well forget "safe" tankmates I mean common tank mates like:

Clown Loaches
Datnoids
Polypterus Senegal
Silver Aro
Blue Aro
Pleco with caution
Jardini Aro with caution

This is what I mean, feel free to add to the list

My friend even had a ray killed by 1/2 inch ghost shrimps. he threw about 1000 in to feed the ray while he was away.

Guess who was eating who when he returned

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Perhaps the ray died and THEN the shrimps ate and fed off the remains?

Won't rule out the possibility, but he wasn't the only one... and these people have pretty good filtration. I've done the same thing but in a bigger tank. where the shrimps scatter.

The poor ray must have been swimming around and around for days but still unable to escape Ghost Shrimps anywhere. May have succumb to the stress and constant attack of ghost shrimps picking at his disc.

I've also seen small catfish used as feeders tear mini chunks out of rays pups disk.

I put them in a few at the time now. Instead of chunking 300 in with the pups at once.

^ Small catfish really? What type? For feeders?

There is no such thing as a safe stingray tank mate. It all depends on the rays and each tank mate's character and size.

Big rays can kill almost anything and almost anything can kill a small ray. Yes. Even tiger barbs.

I agree with Lincoln
