Calling all TENECOR tank owner...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just ordered a 315 form Midwest. I got initial quotes from Midwest, Precision and Tenecor. Even though Midwest is using 3/4" and Tenecor 1/2" , Tenecor's quote was 40% higher on the tank and a little over 100% on the stand. Chris from Midwest was also very patient, answering all my questions.

Even if one does purchase one of their stands, with one of their tanks, IMO their current warranty is very limited. It went from "lifetime", to 2 yrs, and then a 60%-80% drop in value, wholesale value at that. Considering the wholesale value of many of their larger tanks, for myself that just isn't acceptable. YMMV

Wow, looks like they are getting more strict with their warranty by the day.

Awsome bro. I'll look forward to seeing pics of the new tank.

I did the same thing a year ago and got the same information. Tenecor is very expensive! At the time Tenecore had free shipping and I live just down the road so they said they would take 20% off if I picked it up myself. Still too much IMO.

It's not clear but I think he's talking about Tenecor?

Sorry guys...I think that depending on what color skin you are using, you can't see my post...if you have the default dark blue skin you can see my post in white font against the dark background. I wrote "My Tenecor" and list the dimensions and I wrote that I bought it "used" but that the original owner only filled it once to test fill.

I have a 600 tenecor tank that's way old school. I have personally had it running for going on 2 years and the owner before me had it for several years, there was also a owner before him that had it going for who knows how long. This tank however is back when they use to reenforce their joints with second strip of acrylic on every joint. Still running good to this day.

As to using a purchased stand vs building your own, well it's a crock. If you look at some of those tencor stands, I'm sure you'll find the same thign I did... they're not nearly as strong as what I have built. And on top of that, it would be a reason to void the warranty if the stand is at fault, but what if it's just a bad tank?

The same thing happens with car dealerships/warranties. In order for something to not be covered, the dealership must show that the user modification caused the failure. It's not an assumption.

Midwest said build a stand that is level, take some pictures for posterity, and it doesn't void his warranty... I was really happy with that. Being built into a wall, no tenecor stand would have worked even if I had gone that way.

After reading all the post in this thread Im thinking twice about the 750 gallon from tenecor...Im supposed to bring one home this weekend but idk if I should now...

Do any of you have the issue with the overflow seems that my tank has? Do your overflow columns have a nice clean weld, or is using a strip of acrylic to seal the imperfection a common practice? It is ugly...looks like an amateur installed the overflow columns.

Are you buying a used tank? If you are getting a good deal on a used tank and the seams and acrylic thickness used is good for the dimensions of the tank, don't hesitate. If you were buying brand new (and obviously paying premium price for new) I would say that you can find a higher quality product from another manufacturer. I know that some of the manufacturers that I recommended in my first post would laugh at the overflow installation on my tank.

Will do. You're welcome to check it out in person once it's up.

Nothing will beat a used tank in good shape price wise. In my case, I've been looking for one over an year without luck and I just decided to bite the bullet and order a new one.
