Calling All you Severum Fans.................

A couple weeks ago I purchased the H. severus that Sencion88 was selling in the Marketplace. He says it's female but my first thought was male. At any rate, it is the most pushy, aggressive severum I have ever owned. :ROFL:It quickly dominated my quarantine tank and has put my large angelfish and my chocolate cichlid in their places. I'm almost afraid to put it into the 150 because most of the fish in there are smaller, in the 4 - 5" range.

Joel also sent another tiny severum in the box with her and she does not mess with him at all. He's the only fish in the tank that isn't being terrorized at the moment. I don't know how she'll react to my other severums if I introduce her to the 150. Maybe I'll just wait until my 220 is running...

At this size it definitely looks like a female. IME they are indeed more aggressive than H. efaciatus, and can do some real damage. My male once almost killed my female when they bred.

Does anyone have pictures of the H. efaciatus Jeff Rapps was sell at adult size? I have 2 a M+F and its been taking forever for them to grow they are at 3"-3.5".

Joel, when did you get them? I have some of the H. efasciatus 'Red Spot Tapajos' he was selling as 1.5" fish in January and they're only about 4 - 4.5" now. They definitely are growing slower than my other cichlids (my Uaru grew more in six months than the severums have in 9, and the uaru were teeny-tiny when I got them).
