peathenster, where do you get your fish from?

mine finally laid eggs 2 days ago. there's a buttload of them

Hi Sean - the particular one I actually got from my lfs. They special-ordered it for somebody else but he/she backed out. I traded my bigger male because it was too aggressive. This smaller one seems to have nicer coloration, but is quite wimpy and being picked on by all his fellow severums.

The most I could pull off is one more, and that would be pushing it to the extreme when they get older... Japanese style monster fish keeping in a 3'x18" tank.

This is one of the juvies I'm growing out - probably a female (right???). Starting to show some nice colors but I'll probably have to give it up soon (and two others like it) to free up some tank space....

What plants would be immune to the severums vast diet?

I've heard success stories with amazon swords. IME plastic plants work the best

Mine doesn't do too much to my Argentine Swords...

Only a few noticable holes...

sexing question...

I thought this was a male a couple of month ago when it was 3", but now am thinking it's probably a female. Starting to show a few red spots above its mouth but not a whole lot of markings elsewhere. It's about 4.5"

Thoughts?

aaaahh not the lighter golds they can be tough to sex. by 4.5" id expect some more noticeable marks from a male so im gonna say female
