Calling cichlid experts, guess my new baby

I was told by the place I got this fellow that they are pretty rare in the hobby and he was part of a single batch they imported last september that came back in from a guy who went marine. So we'll see how rare he is and how clever you guys are. Sorry no prizes but we'll see how much was sales pitch and how much was truth.

No sorry, more around the previous two guesses.

The only thing that comes to mind is Thorichthys ellioti, Thorichthys aureus, or maculipinnis.

I still think it is Thorichthys ellioti although Im no expert on Thorichthys.

Heres a breeding pair and I think the male, markings, body shape, gill plate markings and all, is exactly what you have.
