Firemouth/Thorichthys meeki

I used to keep a bunch before I went to the more aggressive cichlids.

Thorichthys helleri tend to be more yellow without the red.

Well now I'm god damn confused. Are any of these Thorichthys rare? Have I been duped into paying more for something. The only T.'s I see over in the UK are generally firemouths.

Thorichthys ellioti was renamed to Thorichthys maculipinnis, so they are the same thing and what Id guess that you have.

Ive recently (last summer I believe someone on here had them for sale) seen them go for up to $40 a piece @ around 3" so if thats an indicator, they arent easily attainable in the US and probably harder to find in the UK.

Guess I dont feel too bad now he's about 5-6" long and I paid £25 which is just over 40 bucks. Thanks for the help VRWC, now I know what he is for real. Sure he can hold his own against my Jack, Nic, Acara, 2 oscars and 2 severums

100% t. ellioti/mac. This is a very nice one too. Also looks like a male. Females have a blue bloch on the dorsal.
