So decided that I'm going to start tracking the weekly progress of my biocubes both for my enjoyment and yours! I want to be able to look back through time and see the progression I have made. Finally, I thought it would just be fun to show all of you what's going on with pics and all that junk
sorry if some of th pics are blurry.enjoy!
So I just got my 29 biocube yesterday and I must say that I am very happy with it. I picked it all up for $135
.It came with everything I need (liverock, sand, fish, lights, skimmer, pump, powerhead) plus three big trashbags full of stuff. I got an extra halide with some moonlights, test kits, etc. I did a rough estimate of the stuff and I calculated it to be over a grand worth of stuff if it was bought new. Not bad for $135!!!!! So anyway, here is my current set up for both the biocubes!
8 G:
Filtration: 1 bag of chemipure ,filter floss on top and bottom, regular 8g biocube filtration pump.
Heating: Marineland Stealth Heater (needs to be replaced now that I know they blow up
)
Circulation: Regular 8g exhaust from filtration, Koralia nano.
Lighting: 1 Coralife 10,000K 18Watt Compact Fluorescent bulb, 1 Coralife Actinic 18Watt Compact Fluorescent bulb, the LED night light
In the Tank: 1 Scarlet Frog Fish, 1 Clarkii Clown, 1 Green Bubble Tip Anemone, Polyp Rock, 1 Coco Worm, 3 Blue Leg Hermit, 1 "Turbo Snail", 1 sand snail, 1 Cluster of frags (needs id!), and one other coral forgot the name id would be nice!
Also about 10lbs of live rock.
Need to buy one more coral and this tank should be set! Planning on growing corals out, maybe fragging
, and then moving them to the 29!!!

29 G:
Just picked this bad boy up and super stoked!
Needs some work but thats the fun part!
Filtration: Fluval 304 (the media needs to be redone, dont like whats in there right now), CPR Aquatics Bak-Pak 2R Reef Ready Protein Skimmer, regular boicube filtration (need some chemi pure).
Heating: Visa-Therm Heater
Circulation: Regular 29g exhaust from filtration, Hydor Koralia 2, fluval and protein skimmer exhaust.
Lighting: Two T-5 Bulbs, unsure of what exactly they are. Need to look when I clean it out. Also have metal halides that I dont want to use at this point.
In the Tank: 1 false percula, 1 royal gramma, 1 goby (needs identification), couple small rock anemones, 40lbs of live rock, 3 sand snails.
Tank needs lots of work!
Ok so here are some things I need help with in regards to the tank.
- IDs on the goby (29g), assorted frags (8g), leather looking coral (8g).
- Also the protein skimmer had an electrical leak. I found this out by touching the water and receiving a slight shock. So I started unplugging stuff until I didnt feel it and the source of the shock seemed to be the protein skimmer. I need to attach a pvc piece to the intake tube so that I can hook up a new pump. Does anyknow know if I can fix the leak? Its not bad but its definitely leaking into the tank. I did unplug it for now and cant fix it till next weekend, will the tank be ok till then?
-Finally: What should I stock the 29 g with? The 8g is full as I know what Im going to put into it, but the 29 is open for any suggestions! ENJOY!
