I’m new to African Cichlids, and I was wondering if a community of Calvus can be kept in a 75g. I’ve heard from some people it’s fine, and others say the males will fight to the death when they get large enough. Can anyone help me out?

I kept three male Calvus in a 65. Started all three together as juveniles. A pecking order soon developed. The strongest two males progressed nicely, but Calvus #3 was beat down constantly by Calvus #1 & #2. He was stunted and always displayed dark coloration. After six months Calvus #3 died.
The dominant Calvus began his beat down on Calvus #2.
Number two died a few weeks later. My tank was heavily hardscaped with plenty of hiding spots.

This occured years ago and was my first attempt keeping Africans. Although I failed on that attempt, I do believe it is possible to keep a cummunity of Calvus. The inclusion of a large enough harem of females and maybe some target fish.
Create a great hardscape.
