I totally gave up on emperors about a year ago.....I have 3 emperor 400s and one 280.....the 280 and one of my 400s are four years old and run perfectly....the other 400s I have run like sh** and I got them like two years ago.....My friend who manages a LFS told me that the emperor filters quality had really gone down the tubes ever since they redesigned them to not have a flow control lever. My old emperor moves a ton of water and the new ones just dont.....I have the old 400 and new 400 sitting side by side on my 55 gallon and I can tell you that the newer 400s are junk
