I took my first vacation in 3 years to Arizona over the weekend. I asked my fish keeping buddy to man the fort while I was out. All of my fish are fine, except for my cichla grow out tank... Ammonia was through the roof, and my Azul, Xingu, and two Orinos kicked the bucket... I don't need explanations. I'm just venting out of shock. I'm seriously considering just leaving the hobby. I get too attached to my fish so I don't handle these things well...
 
That`s a kick in the teeth alright. Still, you shouldn't let it drive you out of the hobby. These fish are just too awesome to not have. Take some time to adjust to the loss and then start over. Anyone who has been keeping fish for any length of time has horror stories, this sad episode will be one of yours.

So sorry for your loss, one of my 12 inch clown knives jumped and passed when I was on vacation and from what you have lost, I feel you....

dont quit the hobby though cause like others said, its not one you should miss on :)

I can understand wanting to call it quits. I get very attached to my favorite fish. But like others have said, just take some time. Sorry about your fish.
 
It is upsetting. But don't give up.
The set backs and sense of loss is out weighed by the pleasure of keeping these amazing animals please remember that.
