Came to a very sad realization today...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I never would have guessed you were older than 20. no offense lol

I had to take down all my tanks because my parents gave me a choice between my snakes and my fish. It was a hard decision but I chose my snakes. once I get moved out right when I'm out of high school Im going to live on base in the airforce(or other military branch). Since my housing is covered, Ill be able to afford more fish AND snakes :D

Dude I feel you. My mom is making me choose between fish and tortoise and I choose fish. Torty is moving out next week :(

What is Torty, mr bigglesworth?

Thought I was gonna have this problem, but I chose to take the jc route so I have 2 more years :), after that though, the decision might be very tough because I may move to another state for school :(

hey kid your me when I was your age. Now im 28 and own my own house and planing monster tanks work hard in school and you will have your tanks again.

+1, although I didn't go to university...

I had a 150g with black aro, big firee eel etc when I lived at home, sold it and downsized to a single 3' tank for years while I moved around flatting. Bought a house, had a fish room with 370g, 210g and a few others, then sold it all [house and tanks] and downsized again to a ~100g tank (just to keep a few of my favourite plecs) while we relocate back to our home town. In about 12 years I've gone full circle and I'm back living in my old bedroom at my parents place, although this time its with my wife and two dogs! We've nearly finalised the purchase of our next house (where we will be staying for many many years, hopefully!) so the time will soon come again for another monster tank, which I should be able to get many years enjoyment from.

Whats the point? Even if you can't have that dream tank right now don't give up on the hobby. Read, research, plan, visit shops, public aquaria, friends, other fish keepers. Make the most of not having the commitment of a tank and travel when you're not studying. Life is always changing, that house and monster tank may seem years away, but when you look back at it you will wonder where those years went.
