It's great basic DLSR-
Something like the newer 30 and 40 D's (canon) get more indepth with manual settings-But the XTI is certainly no slouch...And is very nice for the basic photographer...

Any DSLR will be a good choice, but I would either chose canon or nikon. I prefer nikon. I've been shooting with a D50 and have had great results. If you want a good selection of lenses the only camera to be careful about is the D40(nikon). It's a great camera, but the lens selection is limited.

it seems the only one i can find in the price range
