Can 1 person transport a 100 gallon tank/stand with a dolly?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
im going to agree with most others. get some help from someone for 5 minutes.

hell, its cheaper to buy someone a 6pack than it will be to replace that tank. better to be safe than sorry with something as fragile as glass....

It's possible
but it will alot easier to have two people

u don't want to break your tank bc u couldn't move it properally

Glass is not only very heavy but you don't want it all over your house or garden be a nightmare picking up all the shards and not cutting yourself, you won't regret getting hold of some more muscle.

bah, you can do it with a dolly by ur self. I had no help or dolly to do a 72g glass (with Stairs), weight wasn't the issue, I'm only 5'4", it was manovering it through doors and hallways because my arms couldn't reach fully around. If you have a dolly you'll be fine.

Nope you cant, its damn hard, i wouldnt try it.

eh i dunno. imo itll deffinatly be a tough adventure. i bought a 220 gallon last week which is considerably heavier yes but i had 4 ppl move it. my father and uncle were the main two that did most of the work but they still had blood red faces getting it to the u-haul .. and they are both six foot .. 270 pounds and are in decent shape .. my uncle is that size with like no fat so .. and then me and a buddy helped lift it to take some strain off them but when it comes to getting through doors only 2 ppl can go anyways. ive never lifted a 100 gal but i even always get a hand moving my 50 gal around my room .. deffinatly worth getting a second hand

I wouldn't do it. Even if you could, it's not worth the risk. Wait until a friend can help you or even go on craigslist and offer to pay a couple guys to help you move it. You might be out a few extra bucks, but it's worth it for the peace of mind.

IMO not worth the risk. Pay someone $20 bucks for 5 minutes of work, ALOT cheaper than the price of a new tank.

I bought 1 last night it's got 1/2 " glass and me and the dude who I bought it from carried it up the stairs from his basement through his kitchen, living room and out the front door down the steps to my truck.Guess where the tank is now?Still sitting in the back of my truck.it's heavy-period.I used to be a power lifter so I am strong as hell but its just too awkward for one person to hold and shuffle into the house.I know I could do it but I will definitely mess my back up. My back is shot from power lifting so if your back is good and you are strong ~ try it.I would rather and I will, just wait for the neighbor to help in the morning.there's a snow storm coming so it should be full by the morning.I guess I can bring it in and let the snow melt and it will be full.LOL
