Can a 30g acrylic hex tank make a decent sump?

Okay, see that green bucket that holds up the blue basket? I flipped that over and put the scrubbies inside it. Now they get more direct flow.

I also found an old filter sleeve and put in on top of the top screen, but it splashed everywhere. But in the same minute, I found a Magnum 'Charcoal cartridge', it's a canister container made of two porous membranes. Anyway, I stuck it over the end of the drain hose and it distributes the water more evenly across the surface of the sleeve and prevents splashing. I'm just worried it will clog. Any ideas on that front?

I really don't know much about sumps but I will follow this because I am going to make a sump for my 360 and need some ideas :D

:D

Then I'll also add that I found an old HOB uptake tube that was a perfect fit for the hang-on return hose.

I have a bathroom sink I'm planning on using as a bio chamber in a different set up. :D
