Can a bichir eat too big a pellet?

That's too bad! U might as well try with tweezers. If softened up enough should break up and place in a quarantine tank asap with some ABX if ulcerating. Likely will die if nothing done.

Yea, it's too late for that. He started slamming himself in to everything my daughter said. Looks like I'm making another return to petsmart. *sigh* She had 7 guppies that all died over night as well; they were in her planted tank that the oscars had used as a growout. Poor kid is almost done with fishkeeping she said. She really liked that albino.
 
That's somewhat normal behavior for some, but even if it's a worst case scenario bichirs are more resilient than most fish. For bichirs they aren't dead until they're dead. With some fish you can see the end with bichirs they can pretty much overcome anything given the chance and proper care. As a last ditch effort you can try and remove it, but try not to lodge it even deeper. And try and catch the fish with ease. Don't chase it around just let it go to a side of the tank and then scoop it up. The less stress the better. If you could get a video of this behavior that would probably help.
