You people must all be kidding saying "short term" is okay.
I keep my centrals and South Americans in my house without any heater. The temperature on average is 70 degrees. This has been going for 6 months and there have been no issues at all.

they all did great ther back in their tank were they belong, thanks guys. also I added a cup of aquarium salt in my tank and my fish are more active then they've ever been swimming at all levels of the tank. i love it
