I have been known to do that.. in the past when I was less even tempered and easy to get along with.

Hopefully won't come to that. I want the person to want to stay and take care of the fish, house, yard...

tell the fish-sitter to use feeding tongs to get the food to the eel...mine recognizes it as what brings the food and will go up to the tongs

A good idea. Either tongs or feeding stick. Just make sure to train the eel to respond to whichever you use before you leave.

It already responds to the tongs I use. One of the reasons I don't hand feed is it often hits the tongs first. Thanks to everyone for the help.
