can a turtle live with south Americans?

Did you even read my comment before posting, ignorance is bad.

Im guessing it depends on the type of turtle, not to mention the size of the SA cichlids.

It really depends on the species of turtle, the room available and how well you keep the turtle fed. I currently keep 2 Musk Turtles and a Red Cheek Mud Turtle in a 100 gallon stock tank with Giant Danios, Convicts and a large pleco. I've never lost any fish to them.

Wow those are great pics! I think the tank looks cool with both fish and a turtle. Miguel when the turtle gets big like yours and its shell gets hard does it risk busting the tank because its she'll is like a big rock swimming around hitting the glass!

My RES eats anything and everything that will fit into it's mouth. Fish in particular...
:D

I love the second pic he looks like he is crushed.

Even if a turtle is kept with a fish from young, when they get big enough to eat them they will. They are not people, they do not become attached their tankmates as friends.

I've got 2 juvy res in a tank with some mollies, never bothered them never really paid much attention to them. One day a mollie got caught nappin, game over!
