I am giving an "EXAMPLE" wild oscars eat meat an other weird things.
While captive oscars eat flakes, pellets, and ect.

sadly when i started the hobby, i realized my mother had four oscars in a 20 gallon back twenty years ago they all died quit fast.. when i told my mother why they died she cried, i felt horrible for even telling her :'(

What was the diet for them? How often did she clean the tank?

An Oscar is an Oscar regardless of where they come from which means they all require the same dietary needs. We get to choice what we eat. I'm sure an Oscar will prefer a Minnow over a carrot. You're forcing your fish to eat out of necessity to survive not to thrive.

By the ways...Hot Dogs is what we call them, they are Frankfurters which originated from Germany, so Americans aren't the only ones that eat "Hot Dogs."

I have bought wild oscars before and hey were picky. Captive oscars ate everything. I've had oscars that wont eat a guppy.

The hotdog is an example. Americans probably eat them the most out of every other country.

What you choose to feed, and what is appropriate to feed are two VERY different things. If you starve the fish for long enough it will eat anything, good for it or not. On a side note, the algae wafers you feed are most likely over 50% fish meat.
