I assume you meant nitrite and nitrate and neither is good for a fish but nitrates are less harmful over shorter periods of time.
Can any one explain mechanical,chemical and biological filteration in detail?

In a perfect world, it would be 0 across the board, but since thats not possible, i'd try to keep nitrates under 40.

Now I can understand lit bit . Nitrates cannot be converted into dissolved nitrogen right? Nitrates after long term exposure is harmful right?

Hello; There is some value to having live plants as they can take up nitrates. The benefit is a bit limited according to some. It seems a lot of plant material will need to be harvested in order to make a big difference. Still worth having.
Water changes (WC ) being the more practical and reliable way to reduce nitrates. I am more inclined toward smaller and more frequent WC schedule myself.
Regardless of planting or srocking I do 50-70% a week on all my tanks and nitrate stays undee 20
