can any one give me information on this fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
JDs are notorious for changing color due to stress or an environment change. It could be your hybrids are in the process of lightening up due to your light substrate. I would say it's nothing to worry about...

he's pretty sweet keep us posted on how he turns out!!!!:headbang2:headbang2

Thats the thing when you mix two fish, you really dont know what you are going to get until they grow. Both Texas and JD are beautiful and aggressive..which was exactly what you were looking for.

I think when they get bigger you may have some territory issues but both JD and Tex seem to grow slow also. So far your fish looks like a nice mix, good colors.. I am very interested to see what they look like when they grow!

And with all Cichlids they have a general temperment specific to the breed but every fish is different.

Nice find!! :)

heres a pic I found online of what they might look like when older.

thanks to everyone thats helped out and took the time to look. the only question i have left about them is this. the vertical black lines that run up and down them, is it normal for them to keep fading then getting darker. or is that a sign of stress.

thats what i thought at first, but now you can time a watch to it, they will fade for like 30 min then get dark for another 30-40 min. they swim around normal and eat normal but they keep changing colors. im just a lil worried by it.

As was mentioned earlier, if they have some JD in them then it's normal for them to be skittish and stressed about being in a new environment. You might try turning off the lights for a few days and giving them plenty of shelter so they can claim territories. My regular JD didn't start to relax until I'd had her for weeks.
Good luck!

with them claiming territories, i have them by there selves in a 55 gallon tank, they took out the smaller cichlid yesterday, when they get bigger and older will they be fine together since they grew up together, and do you think a black clown knife will survive in the tank with them.

thanks again everyone for the help, ill keep you updated as they grow and i get a better camera.
