I am very interested in a comparison however the 2262 is so rare I can't find a comparison for the life of me. I do want one though(eheim2262) for my 8-9X4 tank thats coming along soon

Some quick comparisons specs;

Eheim 2262
Filter Flow Rate: 900 GPH
Filter Volume: 4.8 Gallons (18 liters)
Mechanical Surface Area: 122 sq/in (Roughly) (For coarse and small particle filtration)
Inlet / Outlet: 1" / 5/8"

Fluval Fx5
Filter Flow Rate: 600 GPH
Mechanical Surface Area: 294 sq/in (Roughly) (Coarse filtration ONLY)
Mechanical Surface Area: 28.26 sq/in (Small Particle and Biological Filtration ONLY)
Mechanical Volume: 369 cu/in (Roughly) (Coarse ONLY)
Biological Volume: 5.9 Liters (According to Hagen)
Outlet/Inlet: 1" / 1"

Eheim 2262 would be better in my opinion. Especially if you are going to run small partical filtration. The 2262 wont clog nearly as fast as the Fx5 in theory. Although the 2262 does have a higher output.

I do believe you will have more bio volume in the 2262 than the Fx5 evan after having 3" of mechanical filtration.

Actually the FX5 Flow rate is 924 GPH not 600. The 600 is with media. But remember that the 900 gph for the 2262 is also without media! I've started to see more retailers advertise this for some reason that the FX5 flow rate is 600 with media but no mention of the 2262 flow rate with media. The Eheim 2262 is also a lot more expensive than the FX5.

I realize it is more expensive I am looking for more info like JGray posted and if anyone has done a back to back like a while ago I saw a back to back comparison of the fx5 and the 2080 I believe that was the eheim model.

The main component that makes eheims great are their pumps. I"ve heard numerous stories about the eheim 1262 lasting 10+ years and still going strong.

Nice, Good to hear. Where did you get yours could I get a line on one soon?

That is the 2260. I am gonna find my local eheim rep tommorow. Hopefully I can figure something out to get one. Most people do not seem to know they exist.
