This was sold to me as a Gibbeceps HI-Fin pleco, but isn't, he has the body of one but but's clearly got different markings and his fin tips and marking are a red/purple colour, I was told "redfin" but when I look it up I get a fish much more exotic looking.
 
its not a gibbiceps, but it does look like a but of a Glyptoperichthys sp. Also looks like it's got some L. pardalis.
 
My L021/L023 looks EXACTLY like that. Even has the reddish fin tips.
Your LFS owes you some money....
 
Common plecos do not have an L number. Many plecos actually do not have L #s. L#s are only given to plecos that have not been scientifically identified before.

and then when they are the L number becomes obsolete, but people use them as common names anyway.
 
L numbers are not needed after the fish is scientifically identified, but they still are useful. :D
