i talked to Mr. frank Z in eroupe and he says salt will not hurt a freshwater ray!!!
I dont think you mentioned 25 pounds of salt per 100 gallon ratio did you? LOL

Back to the topic, I've seen those spots as well, and like skynoch said, they don't spread, they just stay there. No clue how they get there, no clue how to get them off, but they don't see to do any harm at all. They do seem like they naturall disappear over time though. As long as the ray's healing and eating good, then everything else should be fine for now. Id also say, forget adding things to your water yet, once your ray has healed up nicely, then you can worry about other issues. Howed the ray get mutilated like that anyways? Previous tankmates?

Im not really sure on how she got the disc injurys.. could have been a bacteria infection, could have been chewed on by something... im guessing another ray did it.. alot of her right side was damaged. mostly her disc, but some other parts were as well. She came in like this, so i think it probely happened in the wild, by her parents, or possibly during shipment at one of the exporters.. i really am not sure. She is healing at a very fast rate though.

Is she showing scarring from it? So she arrived at the original owners in that condition from Oliver?

I noticed where the disc was regenerating, that the markings look to be bleeding into the new disc, and sort of streching out. scar tissue can be viewed from below the fish. She must have been much wose at some point, as i noticed that some spots on the disc appered to be much thinner and dented in than others, indicating to me, that i was newly regenerated tissue.

The damage happened prior to the original owner. This is the ray that was originally on olivers blog, her picture was posted on it, she was the darker one. the damage could be viewed then in that pic. She is one of these rays from the first shipment of them. I believe it was from a larger male, but am not positive. Shes making a full recover from it though.. i'll post some pics of the top of her by tomorrow. for now, shes the one in my avatar.

gshock 25 lbs per 100 gallons is for a quick salt bath not your tank maybe in a 5 gallon pale
