I figured someone is bound to be good with plants and trees on MFK since this is such a diverse community. Here is the tree in question:

The wood is amazing and I'd like to use it to decorate my tanks (after drying out and soaking), but I have no way of knowing if it's toxic without knowing the name. Anyone know?

Try it with some feeders or gold fish. Them mollies swords.

Id tossed tree branches i found in lake Ontario in my tanks, i had no issues. I just boiled them before hand.

i do believe that is a twisted or corkscrew willow

It looks to me like a cherry or plum flowering tree/bush... does it have reddish leaves in spring and small flowers ?

now that i am looking at it again i think your right... i have one.. i just never saw one so bushy... they use these willows to make baskets.. ,..

It looks like Corkscrew Willow, but I would need to see a close-up of the leaves to know for sure.

Willows contain salicylic acid (aspirin), so maybe it will cure your fish's headaches. It may be hard to get to sink, as it is a fairly light and soft wood.
