I dont think its a retic. Retics always have that prominent fleshy "flange" on the sides of their tail and this ray completely lacks it.

Good point.. It would be nice if we had better pictures ;) but it seemed like a washed out pattern on a smaller mature male ray, with a retic pattern around the disc.. looks like I made a hasty assumption!

More pix please@! :D :D :D

Miles, Ive never really heard any one refer to the flesh flange or whatever as a distinguishing characteristic of retics and is just something Ive noticed. Now I know other rays like motoros exhibit it but not nearly as pronounced. Do you agree that it is a good way to ID retics or did I just made it up?

thats the second ray pic that i have seen an orbignyi with that distinct back of they eye pattern but mine still has the rest of his patterns on his back and has not faded all the way yet.

Hi all i have decided not to get these 2 rays now as i know nothing about rays and with a few people have said that they do not look healthy.

sorry to mess everyone around with trying to identif, i will get one soon though as i am interested in them but i dont want to purchase a ray and it does soon after.

so thanks all

and sorry there wont be any pics as i will not be owning them.
