Well i am sure as you guys know my sharks and eel eat everything. I am having small breakouts of diatoms in my tank. Snails, urchins, and others will get eaten. Idk about starfish or other exotics that may work, but i need some help. What will live in my tank and eat the diatom brown algae off my acrylic?

I can't do mangroves or other macros because i only have 192watts of light over 12ft. So i am almost to the point where i am just going to toss some caulerpa macro in the tank and say f it, at least this **** wont stick to the glass!

Anyone have any ideas?

I would suggest long spine urchins, but you said they were being eaten. Try large turbos, my puffer that I had didn't bother but sharks are another story lol. You can try star fish because I mostly here that puffer are usual the fish that will attack them. I'll do some research to help you...lol

Do you have a sump? I assume you do, get a big handful of chaeto, a small clamp on shop light and throw it in the sump. The chaeto should help with the excess nutrient. I had some diatom blooms did that now my sand bed and glass is cleannn

yea, the only problem is it will need to consume 360g worth of water. I don't have room for that my skimmer and pump would begin to eat it all up ruining my pumps. I have a bio tower then to small pump spots on the sides. I have been trying to incorporate a smaller sump that is pump driven back into main sump but just not enough room :(

Your right though, if it comes down to it i will have to drill my sump and add additions.

I know you are pretty aposed to manual cleaning but one of these might help you out.

with this magnetic cleaning tool, you can reach every inch of you're exposed acrylic surface without ever having to stick your hand in the water with "hungry mister green".
They come in a veriety of sizes, so you can easily get one that fits your tank.

personally, I love these, cause it means I never have to stick my hand in with my exodons:eek3:.

Hope this helps.

The bad thing about the mag float is if you get sand on the float and clean the tank the acrylic will get scratched to ****. Sorry dude out of ideas
