canuck bro
u need the magfloat BLUE!
its meant for acrylic tanks
thats your best bet

haha i got one custom made! its a POS!!

If i gets stuck together i have to send it back to the company to get it apart. It penetrates 1 1/2"

Yup. I have ruined my 75 via use of the magfloat. They are great, but you have to be paying attention to make sure you dont scratch your viewing area.

Side note...diatoms are from silicates, and macro algae are going to focus on removing other nutriets. Luckily, there are FISH that eat diatoms. Bristletoothed tangs. Might be worth a shot. They also eat algae, detritus, and purple slime even some say. I would give one a go if you think it could make it in with the others. Better than small inverts I guess.

Canuck this is why you need a scrubber :P and why you should always use glass for fron viewing pannels :P (yes I realize the huge added weight lol).

lol i tried the scrubber... that scrubber person said 1000 watts... lol he can kiss my... well anyways, i think i rigged something in there to fix the problem... pics in a sec..

How 1000 watts fro a scrubber? The scrubber I made for under my 100g is only using 2, 23watt CFL's. I have no other filtration in my tank. No skimmer, no filter sock just the scrubber and the rock in the tank of coarse. Nitrates stay at zero now, Phosphate at 0, Ammonia and nitrites also stay at 0. I would try and make one work.

I agree, their "required light" for most scrubbers is way over kill, unless your tank is producing unbelieveable amounts of waste. A mid size scrubber with a few CFL bulbs (with proper reflectors) will be fine usualy, the idea would be just keep and eye on parms and if they get bad you know its not enough. I'm actualy in the process of designing a high surface area scrubber that will need less light, but have more growth.

I agree with the scrubber. If you are not using it as your only filter you should not need 1000 watts of light. I would consider it being used more as a water polisher to help reduce not eliminate water changes. So just build the biggest you think is practical and fits in your stand. I would start with a remote bucket one that is cheap just to see what results you can get.
