A high quality thai silk will have the classic red dragon kok size and red eyes along with the red dragon body style. High quality ones will also have a very intense blue color along with no visible flowerline. With picking out juvi's. Tho it can be a bit difficult to tell what is high quality since they all start out looking like a normal red dragon, it just takes them a lil bit to gain all the extra blue color. Btw I would rate your male as a AA- for competition grade. It's near perfect other then the discoloration around the mouth and kok. This here FH I pulled from Google shows what I would believe to be a AAA competition grade thai silk should look like. What makes a thai silk high quality
I've kind of noticed this as well when it comes to thai silks. For some reason the gene that makes it turn almost-completely blue must interfere with the programing of the dishes brain or something. Unless it's a mutation that also shrinks the stomach volume.Thai Silks can be beautiful as adults but often times they have really weak stomachs. Even worse then what the average Flowerhorn's stomach problems are. I personally have kept them in the past and I'm not a fan. If I were you I wouldn't just "settle" and buy a fish. If one of the "kamfas" he is selling doesnt catch your eye I would wait till you find what you really want.
