Can Bio-Filtration stop working?????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Will do Burt, thanks for the help.

I hope at some point or another I will see the Ammonia levels drop and the Nitrite levels rise, this way I know Im heading in the right direction and the bacteria is doing its job.

I knew at some point or another I was going to need a canister filter. This Emperor 400 sucks.

Its makes so much noise and is so troublesome to get it working again after a water change.

In regards to the pH, should I just leave it where it is ? (6.2)

Or should I add some "Jungle: pH Neutralizer 7.0"?

Thanks again guys!

I would not add anything other than dechlorinator to your tank, such as prime or stress coat. Messing with pH with chemicals is just that, messy. It sounds like you will be fine with the added filtration and water changes. I do around 30-40 percent every five or six days on my 120 gallon. With the added filter you won't need to do such massive water changes IMO. I think you need to keep doing more frequent water changes to get your levels down, they seem very high at this point.

Good luck!

Well heres the update, the murkyness in the water is completely gone now!

This Eheim 2217 works miracles!

I can see through the tank now!

The fish are responding better in terms of behavior. They dont seem so stressed out anymore.

I haven't had a chance to test the water just yet since I haven't had the tme yet. But I think that TLC stuff really works , it seems like theres some sort of bacteria in there now working out some stuff.

I'll keep you guys posted.
