I have a friend with a couple of pleuro snake heads. Since he doesnt have access to da interwebs he asked me to ask you fellas.

He feeds his tank Hikari massivore but the eye spots are so fast and gobble them up so quickly that they get stuffed anbd bloated before any other fish can eat.

They are about 7-8" he says that each will eat 6-8 pellets in a sitting, sometimes maybe more. If one pellet equals 1.8 goldfish is it bad for the fish to be eating that much?!

Is feeding to a bloated belly bad for channa?

yes you can do serious damage to your channa by overfeeding them
overfed fish from an early age will never be able to reproduce as they are neather him nor her. they do not devellp sexual organs
also you will cause liver problems and heartproblems just like you would devellop yourself if you overeat on a regular basis
feeding young channa to much is were most of the damage is caused and it is permanent. it can't be fixed by feeding less after

How would you guys suggest my friend feeds? He says he has to feed his other fish too. I have heard of fatty liver disease, but never heard of a fish not developing sexually if fed too much!

really do not know how you would stop the channa eating all the food first , you could try something like frozen blood worm ect defrosted and then shot in , that way they would spread out around the tank to give every one a chance to get some , or try breaking your massivoire up into smaller bits so there is more chance others get some

cheers col

very interesting baloo. can you expand on this a bit? I've never heard such a thing before.

Hi!

I am with Uli - only one thing...
During their upgrowth - i feed them a lot. Unless they are upgrown they won't be damaged.
If they do not get enough - the risk of not reaching their size is given.

If they are full-grown - let them have les food. No prob. Sometimes we do not feed them 2 weeks or more. Mostly they get food twice a week.

Markus
