If one pellet equals 1.8 goldfish is it bad for the fish to be eating that much?!

Where does this info come from?

yes you can do serious damage to your channa by overfeeding them
overfed fish from an early age will never be able to reproduce as they are neather him nor her. they do not devellp sexual organs
also you will cause liver problems and heartproblems just like you would devellop yourself if you overeat on a regular basis
feeding young channa to much is were most of the damage is caused and it is permanent. it can't be fixed by feeding less after

very interesting
this is the only good reasoning i have heard about over feeding channa.

Its always good to give predators a break between feedings as it allows them to digest and aborb the nutrients properly and produce less waste.

There are two techniques I have used to get food to the bottom fish.

1. Feed the Pleuro's larger items of food like sprats and mussel or chunks of cut fish to the point where they ignore the food and it gets to the bottom. With this method it is very important to have a break from feeding of two or three days sometimes longer to allow the fish to digest the food and not get fat. when I have done this I have waited until the fishes belly is flat again.

2. A much better method was to get an old tube that I had used as an undergravel filter pipe and drop the food down the pipe to the bottom. The lower fish learn't were to grab the food.

agreed , i used this method in the good old reef tank days to get food down to corals and bottom dwellers like scooters ect , the bigger fish would just wait until the food came in from above.

unlike the majority of channa, young pleuros seam to have a very fast metabalism , probably as they never stop and use a lot of energy constantly swimming. although you can most defenatly still overfeed them it useally takes a lot more to make them fat , on the other hand my orientalis seam to get fat just looking at them , i am constantly cutting there food back ,

cheers col
