Can cichla choke? Or eat themselves to death?

I dont know why it died. Bass under 6 inches are fragile. Anything could have happened. If the rest of the fish in the tank are fine then it was just a freak thing.
Bass by no means are fragile. Under 3 inch they could be because of food related issues but 3 inch plus what is so fragile about them lol
