Can fish see in complete darkness? I have a couple nocturnal fish in my basement and there are absolutely no windows so it is 100% dark, should I keep a small lamp on or something so they have at least a little bit of light? One of them has been getting a busted nose lately and I wonder if this would be the cause.

Some can, some can't. Realize a lot of fish live in complete darkness in the wild. The larger the eye, likely the better they can see in the dark. Nocturnal fish often have large eyes. Some fish, like catfish, use their whiskers to feel around in the night. You can try using a dim lamp, see what happens. What kind of fish is it?

OK OK turn off you light start running around and see what happen....

Wolffish dont really like the like in general and prefer to be in dim lit areas during the day,so yes its ok that its dark, they actually prefer it so dont worry he's fine, not like they move much anyways haha

maybe from hitting the side of the tank when feeding? post some pics,do u feed feeders or just worms?
