Red Devil;4223920; said:Frontosa should eat only sinking pellets or other type sinking only food.. since they are prone to bloat ..they are a bottom dweller so much better to let them eat where they can eat it right away...
ewok;4223990; said:i think there are some mixed theories on that and different experiences. some frontosas like mpimbwes get float really easily. float and bloat are completely different things. a lot of people i know feed their fronts krill, pellets etc and some of the foods float at the surface and the fish are never worst off from it. having said that, i would personally stick with sinking foods. as red devil rightly mentions they are bottom dwelling fish and ingesting air sometimes will lead to float, which is cured by epsom salt. there are plenty of quality foods like New life spectrum and perhaps HBH, OSI, Hikari that are so much better. you get what you pay for, so spend that extra $2-3 and get better foods for your fish. they will reward you with better health and colors.
yes ..it will be interesting to see if there is a differenceSkySouza;4320845; said:I have 8 7-13" mpimbwe frontosa. 4 of em are wild caught. I feed em wardleys everyday. Just had a spawn too. Never had a health problem. However, I agree their color would be better if I used quality foods. I've had em on wardleys for over a year. I'm going to photograph them on wardleys and then switch them over and do a comparision. See how drastically the food can affect they're color. Nice experiment some day.![]()
