can gravel scratch glass bottoms?

I would rather let a fish have a natural bottom and play with it as opposed to having glass to try and collect and move. The appearance is far greater IMO with a substrate.
 
Yeah i agree too, but the thought of cleaning it with an adult oscar is just...AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
